Insurance and Fees

Waystation Counseling tries to make therapy as painless as possible (at least with insurance; the rest depends on your therapist). All of our professionals accept insurance to make treatment more affordable. 

Typical Cost: Each therapist at Waystation Counseling is allowed to set their own rate, and rates vary depending on appointment length.  Before you commit to treatment, your therapist can give you a clear idea of the typical session cost if you provide your insurance information.

Payment type: We accept all major credit card, HSA cards, and cash.  We do not accept checks. 

Insurance Companies: Here is a list of some of the insurance companies that we are contracted with. This list is subject to change and exceptions, because insurance companies are complicated. If you do not see your insurance coverage below please email us a Adminteam@waystationcounseling.org

BCBS (Blue Advantage, Blue Care, Blue Home with Novant Health, Blue Options, Blue Select, Classic Blue, and Anthem). All of our clinicians are in-network with BCBS.

We are not in network with BLUE LOCAL (Atrium). If you are checking the BCBS provider directory, enter the practice name, not the clinician. 

If you have a "High Performance Plan," you will need to get prior approval. Please reach out if you need assistance with this. 

United/UMR:  Trish Lockhart can bill for United and Optum plans.  

Cigna/Evernorth:  We are moving to billing Out of Network (OON) for Cigna.  Your plan likely has OON benefits and we can check for your current benefits.

Meritain (formerly covered by CBHA): Trish Lockhart bill  Meritain.  The other providers may be able to as well, we are seeking guidance on this. 

Aetna: All clinicians can bill Aetna, which includes the North Carolina State Health Plan Network 

All Other insurance companies: Many of the new insurance companies will allow you to set up a contract with a provider of your choice. We can help if this is the case.  Please feel free to contact us and ask. intake@waystationcounseling.org 

If we cannot take your insurance we have a policy of courtesy billing, which means that we will file the out of network (OON) claim for you whenever possible or, if you have to submit claims a different way, we will provide you with a superbill for you to submit. 

Superbills are not available to clients utilizing sliding scale. 

Average out of pocket cost, With insurance, out of pocket costs typically range from $25-$180 depending on session length, insurance benefits, and services provided.  

Sliding Scale: Many of our clinicians accept sliding scale on a case by case basis.  Please email them for availability and policies. 

Group Program pricing: Skills Class is out of pocket.

The cost of group depends on the length of commitment indicated on the group contract and upfront deposit.   The range for group is between $65-80 for a 90 minute group. Please email us a intake@waystationcounseling.org for more information.
