Trish Lockhart, MSW LCSW (In Person and Telehealth for North Carolina and Florida, Adults and Teens) North Carolina and Florida

Trish first became interested in therapy during her time in the military mentoring junior Marines, though she is often told she is too quiet to have been a Marine. She found that the biggest cause for unhappiness in her peers was not fitting the mold. She worked to create an environment that was more diverse in thought and more forgiving.  She carried these lessons into her work as a therapist.
She completed her Masters Degree in Social Worker at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015. After graduating, she enjoyed several years of working in the community with young adults and adults with severe mental illness. During this time she became interested in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and started her training.
Trish works with adolescents (12+) through adults. Trish believes in a holistic approach to therapy and combines evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT with investigations into health. Generally, she recommends clients get a full work up from their primary care doctor.  She believes that small changes can often have the biggest impact, including sleep hygiene!
Trish is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and psychosis, Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma, Cognitive Enhancement Therapy for mental illness recovery, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for emotion dysregulation and social skills. She is also integrating Radically Open DBT (RO DBT) into her practice for OCD, treatment resistant depression, Autism and other diagnoses related to over control.
She also has experience working with the LGBTQ community, kink community, and with substance use disorders but does not consider herself a specialists in these areas.
One of her favorite quotes from another Hufflepuff, “My philosophy is that worrying means you suffer twice.” - Newt Scamander (I don't support JKR due to her discrimination against transgender individuals)
